The Driftwood Thesis

The music and entertainment industry still runs on handshakes.

That isn't a criticism, it's actually one of the things we love about it. The relationships, the loyalty, the gut calls that turn into careers. But beneath all of that human magic sits an industry that has been remarkably slow to modernize. Old systems. Old workflows. Old assumptions about how the work gets done.

We started Driftwood Music Group because we believe there is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build meaningful, durable companies inside music and entertainment, companies that honor the relationships at the heart of the industry while bringing the operational rigor, technology, and ambition that other sectors have taken for granted for decades.

Who We Are

Driftwood is a family-run, operator-led holding company pooling decades of experience building and scaling businesses. We aren't afraid to get down in the trenches with our team.

We are not a private equity firm. We are not a venture capital fund. We are not a corporate acquirer. We do not have a fund timeline, an LP base demanding quarterly returns, or a playbook that requires us to slash costs and strip identity from the companies we partner with.

What we are is a small group of operators who want to build something real, in an industry we love, with people we enjoy and respect.

The Vision

Our long-term goal is to build a portfolio of four to five pillar companies in music and entertainment. These pillar companies operate across Service-Based and Core Software/AI business models — and with enough scale, cash flow, and capability to eventually fund their own expansion and their own acquisitions.

We think of these pillars as complementary, not competing:

  • A service-and-relationships pillar: the human side of the business, where trust, taste, and access are the moat.
  • A software-and-scale pillar: where technology compounds advantage and creates leverage.

Paired well, these two sides of the house sharpen each other. The agency informs the software roadmap. The software gives the agency capabilities its competitors cannot match. Together they form something more durable than either could be alone.

Flytevu is our first pillar — a culture-forward, creative marketing agency that anchors us in the entertainment ecosystem and gives us the relationships, credibility, and operating ground from which to build outward.

The Tactical Pieces

A vision without a plan is just a wish. Here is how we are building.

Pillars first, then tuck-ins. Once a pillar company is strong enough to generate meaningful free cash flow, we use that cash flow to acquire smaller, complementary businesses — in new regions, new capabilities, or new product areas. This is faster than building from zero, and it lets each pillar compound over time.

Operator-led, not financial-engineered. We work inside the businesses we own. We help build the marketing engine, the sales process, the engineering team. We have scaled companies before, and we know what it takes — and what it does not (which is mostly slide decks and quarterly board theater).

Executives on demand. One of Driftwood's quiet advantages is a network of senior operators — CMOs, sales leaders, technologists, HR leaders — who can advise our founders and CEOs when needed, without the cost of a full-time hire or expensive advisor. A growing company rarely needs a full-time Fortune 500 CMO. It does need a few hours of strategic direction, mentorship, and guidance.

Reinvest, do not extract. We are not in the business of buying companies and milking them. Free cash flow gets reinvested — into product, into AI and software tooling, into people, into expansion. We are playing a long game, and we want our partners playing it with us.

Engineering as a multiplier. Many of the businesses we want to own are great at what they do but underpowered on the technology side. We have built global engineering teams before, and we will do it again — efficiently, with focus, and aimed squarely at the problems that move the business forward.

Flexible capital, careful governance. If raising outside capital accelerates the plan, we will. But we are cautious about structures that slow our decisions or compromise the independence that makes us useful to founders in the first place. Speed and clarity are competitive advantages we intend to keep.

What We Care About

Strategy is the easy part. What we actually care about and what we look for in the companies and people we partner with is harder to put on a page, but here is our best attempt.

We care about culture. The companies we acquire keep their identity. We are three people, not a hundred-person investment machine with a standardized integration playbook. There is no machine grinding away at the thing that made the business work in the first place. We want what makes teams great, to stay and compound.

We care about founders who want to keep building. We are not a soft landing for tired operators. We are a partner for founders who see a bigger version of their business and want help getting there.

We care about the human experience. Music and Entertainment is one of the most enduring categories in human life. It connects people. It marks the moments that matter. We chose this industry because we wanted our work to matter to the people on the other end of it — not just to a balance sheet.

We care about doing the work. We are operators first. The thing we are best at, and the thing we enjoy most, is rolling up our sleeves and building.

What's Next

We are early. Flytevu is our first pillar, and we are actively looking for our second — a core software-led or service-based business in or adjacent to entertainment where our skills, capital, and network can accelerate what is already there.

If you are a founder building in this space and any of the above sounds like the partner you have been looking for, we would like to hear from you. And if you are just curious where this is all going, keep reading. We will be sharing more here as the picture sharpens.

This is what we mean by Driftwood. We hope you will come along.
